How many plywood sheets
do I need?

Enter the outside size of your cabinet below. The calculator lists every panel, then estimates how many 2440 × 1220 mm sheets you need in 18 mm (carcass, shelves, doors) and 6 mm (back panel). It is an area-based estimate — send us the list on WhatsApp and we will lay the parts out on the sheet for an exact count.

Your cabinet, your sheet count.

Sizes are outside dimensions. Panels are not reduced for board thickness, so the estimate leans slightly high — the safe side when you are ordering.

Estimate from panel area: 7.11 m² of 18 mm and 1.89 m² of 6 mm, plus 15% waste, on 2440 × 1220 mm sheets (2.977 m² each). The real count depends on how the parts nest on the sheet.

Questions we get asked

How the calculator works.

How many plywood sheets do I need for a wardrobe or kitchen cabinet?

Add up the area of every panel (sides, top, bottom, shelves, doors and back), add a cutting-waste allowance, and divide by the area of one sheet. A 2440 × 1220 mm sheet is 2.977 m². The calculator on this page does that sum for you and lists each part, so you can check it against your drawing.

Why is the result only an estimate?

Because the real number depends on how the parts are laid out on each sheet. Long side panels, wide doors and the grain direction all change how many parts fit. The area method gives a fair starting figure; for an exact count, send us the part list and we will lay it out on the sheet.

Which parts are 18 mm and which are 6 mm?

In this calculator the carcass (sides, top, bottom), shelves and doors are 18 mm, and the back panel is 6 mm. Those are the two thicknesses JIYU keeps in stock: 18 mm for carcasses, doors and shelves, and 6 mm for cabinet backs and drawer bottoms. For any other thickness, ask and we will tell you whether we can supply it.

What waste allowance should I use?

The calculator starts at 15%. Simple boxes with repeated parts nest well and waste less; mixed sizes and grain-matched doors waste more. You can change the percentage to match your own experience.

What if one of my parts is bigger than a sheet?

The calculator flags any part longer than 2440 mm or wider than 1220 mm. That part cannot be cut from one sheet, so it needs a joint or a change to the design. It is better to sort that out before the drawing is final.

Want an exact sheet count?

Send us your drawing or part list. We will lay it out on 2440 × 1220 mm sheets and come back with the sheet count, specification and the ENF test report (grade limit ≤ 0.025 mg/m³).
